As of January 2015 over 100 sodar systems have been verified at the AQSystem test site

As of January 2015 over 100 sodar systems have been verified at the AQSystem test site in Sweden. From July 2012 the site has been occupied with a minimum two (2) systems continuously. In excess of 41,000 hours (over 4.5 years) of sodar data have been compared with our IEC compliant and DNV-GL approved 100m met tower. Analysing this quantity of wind data keeps the AQ Quality department very busy. Because the recently launched AQ510 Wind Finder operates on a different frequency to previous generation sodars the site now allows verification of up to five (5) simultaneously operating Sodar systems. The massive amount of data has helped both in development and refinement of the new AQ510 and, in addition, has been used to test some widely held “truths” about Sodar technology. This has proven to be very interesting and useful.
